“We grew up way too fast
And now there’s nothing to believe
And reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won’t tell no one your name”
In life, we can listen to the same song over and over and over and yes, it might be AMAZING the first time you listen to it, but by the 150th time, it might get old. It’s the same situation when we think about ourselves and how we approach what it is that we are doing with our destinies. Some people have never developed a sense of passion, or even truly have a care or understanding for what their purpose is.
When we listen to the same song over and over we can find ourselves in a state of stagnancy, never coming to terms with what our true hearts need to embrace life. Listening to music is one of the greatest things in the world. It will make you feel better. It will make you feel worse. But it will always make you appreciate the words that someone else is pouring into a song. It makes you feel like you’re not alone and who the hell wants to be alone in this big world?
When we give into a “random” playlist, it’s exciting. You allow something that you’d otherwise be turned off from, into your ear drums, pumping your soul of rhythm and dance. Nothing in life will ever be certain. But you can certainly find a song that strikes a nerve for where you currently are, at this point in your life. No matter how down you might be, just know that there are a MILLION other people in the world, going through the exact same thing, or have gone through it and will have the words you so need to hear, to get you up and moving.
We can wallow in sadness and be afraid to hurt someone to be fully happy, but that’s the element of life nobody truly enjoys. Hurting someone is a rough experience, but if you know your heart lies somewhere else, don’t let the song play on repeat and lose it’s feeling that you originally had. Stop it before it gets over played, before you lose all the passion you once developed for it. Hit the skip button, and look forward to trying something new, with a new perspective and a new set of ears. Nothing better than making memories with a song.
